Egg and Nori Wontons

The steam combatted the harsh winter coldness. Each delicate wonton held a bite of love, a childhood refuge in every fold. The warmth, more than just broth, soothed worries away, leaving only the familiar comfort of home…

Ingredients:

1. Nori

2. 2 eggs (whisked)

3. Wonton wrappers

4. Shrimp

5. Ginger (sliced)

6. Ground meat (could be either pork, or beef)

7. White pepper powder

8. Chicken or beef broth

9. MSG (optional)

Method:

1. To make the wonton filling, mix together chopped shrimp (not too fine), ground meat, and sliced ginger. Mix evenly. Add in white pepper powder, salt, and a bit of chicken broth (not too much). Mix evenly again. If necessary, add a bit of chicken broth at a time until the filling is soft enough mold but can still hold it's shape.

2. Take a small spoon in one hand and place a wonton wrapper in the palm of your other hand. Use the spoon to pick up a small spoonful of the filling and place it into the middle of the wonton wrapper. Wrap the wonton wrapper around the filling, and use your thumb and index finger to pinch the top of the wrapper to close the wonton. Put these aside until you've finished wrapping all of your wontons. Feel free to make as much or as little as you want, but ideally, you need 10 to make the soup.

3. Cook the wontons in some broth or water. Gently place your wontons into the soup, followed by the nori. While gently stirring, pour in your whisked eggs. Continue to gently stir until the eggs become more opaque. Then, stir occasionally until the all wontons float to the surface of the soup.

4. If desired, add MSG or salt to taste.
